"Sara and FITB sitting on the bank; f-i-s-h-i-n-g; first comes bait; then comes casting; then comes reeling in a 13-pounder!" Well...that's not quite how it happened...

We did go fishing yesterday morning, that part is true. I got invited for last weekend and was out of the country. Lucky me to get asked for this Saturday!

The morning started out with a trip to McDonald's for a sausage biscuit. Next we stopped at WalMart for some fishing supplies. Finally we made it to the lake! Okay, "lake" is a grand word for where we were. It's actually more of a big pond at a park in the city :) But yesterday was free fishing day, and rumor had it that the "lakes" were filled with fish this past week in preparation for free fishing day. Unfortunately for us, the "lake" we were at is an urban lake rather than a state-owned lake. Therefore, it was not filled with fish. Too bad so sad for us.

It was funny. I haven't been fishing in many moons - one guy had to teach me how to cast the line using his fishing pole :) The other pole wasn't quite as complicated - I fished with it most of the morning.

We used cheese and worms as bait. Either there were no fish in the vicinity or they weren't hungry because we never had even a nibble! We had four fishing poles. No nibbles. No bites. Only ducks swimming along serenely. And a group of softball girls getting their individual and group photos taken by the "lake". And blaring Mexican music from somewhere nearby. Do you think it's possible the fish don't speak Spanish?

Sounds like fun even if you didn't catch anything. I'd give you some advice, but I don't know anything about fishing, I'll have to ask Jake! :)
Cheese and worms for bait? Why didn't you try something more appetizing? Maybe that was the problem. :) JK
