Spring Break

My friend Amber, her sister Melissa, and I took a few days to spend part of spring break in San Diego!

Us in the car

None of our key cards worked at the hotel

Our first night there, we did some shopping and wandered around downtown. We had dinner and dessert in the Gaslamp Quarter.Amber and me in front of the fountains

At the Ghirardelli Chocolate place...delicious chocolate treats :)

I'm clearly excited about the prospect of a peanut butter chocolate concoction...

The next morning, we left the bay for a 10 mile, four hour whale watching cruise. What a perfect day for it! It was sunny and breezy - we saw three kinds of whales, sea lions, and dolphins.

The only picture of a dolphin that turned out

No trip to San Diego is complete without a trip to the beach! We spent some time at the beach on Coronado Island. It wasn't warm enough to swim, but we did enjoy the sun, sand, and surf :)

I love the ocean

Obviously I left out a lot of details...if you really want to know the juicy tidbits, let me know :)

Track and Field Day

Every March, we have track and field day at the school where I teach. In talking to others about this event, it's typically held in May...yet in Arizona, May is too hot :) The events included tug-of-war, long jump, high jump, volleyball, tetherball, basketball, hurdles, sprints, relay races, and cage ball (at least, that's what I think they call it...).

This year was fun! For one, both my boys' and girls' relay teams took second place. Not too shabby. Also, the weather was perfect. I always have a good time participating in every event with my class. My students were funny - they kept wanting my camera to get "action shots" of me playing. And for your viewing pleasure (ha ha) - here they are :)

Long jump...this picture cracks me up - it's hard getting an action shot :)

Tetherball - a sport I never learned to play - still can't to this day. Yet, to appease the pleadings by a girl in my class, I succumbed to play for a mere 30 seconds. I was awful.

Cage Ball - each team kicks the ball and tries to get it over the other team's head. So fun!

One of the better pictures I took :)

My "twin" and me - she was excited about wearing matching shirts and hairstyles :)

Hurdles! By far, one of my favorite events of the morning. PS - notice I'm winning :)

"Volleyball" - kid-friendly

Chilling after tetherball
