Halloween!

Prior to the day of Halloween, we carved pumpkins. Steve was ambitious this year, and since we had a pumpkin-carving kit, he tried his hand at some intricate patterns (unlike the typical jack-o-lantern faces we usually do). We were pretty impressed with how well they turned out!

On Halloween day, this happened:

Here's the significance: All three babies were sleeping at the same time! Ellie quit taking naps at 18 months old (just before Hunter was born). Hunter has been phasing them out the past few months (he's almost 3 years old). We had gone to Costco as a family and kept the kids up later than normal (hoping to wear them out...). When we got home, somehow Steve and I were able to take turns lying down with each kid until everyone was asleep! It was pure heaven. Even Steve and I got to rest. We knew it would make for an enjoyable Halloween night. And it did!

Our friends Lorie and Alec Strassburg invited us to Halloween dinner and trick-or-treating with them. She had made a special Halloween meal of mummy dogs and slugs & cheese (mac and cheese), which was super cute! Then we all headed out trick-or-treating in their neighborhood.

It was an entertaining experience this year. Ellie and the other boys (Andrew - 5 and Skyler - 3) would run from house to house, jet up the stairs, and hurry back down and on to the next house. Hunter was always a house or two behind :) He rode in the wagon with Dallas a bit, and by the time we were just a block or two away from returning to Lorie's house, Steve took the boys back. Hunter was perfectly happy with what he already had in his bucket: a bouncy ball and some candy. It makes me laugh because last year his favorite thing was a bouncy ball too!

When we got home, Steve took the two big kids to a few more houses on our street. Trick-or-treating started and ended early out here this year due to the Royals game that was on at 7:00 PM.

And that wrapped up the Halloween season for us!
