SNCP Reunion

For the SNCP reunion, we took a trip to Sturgis, South Dakota. Some of the highlights included:

*Meeting up with the Wuehlers in Sioux Falls to caravan the rest of the way together. The kids (and adults) had great fun switching up cars (I spent most of the drive with Danika in her car, her husband Brent drove with Steve in our van, and our kids swapped back and forth between cars at every stop).

*Wall Drug: The kids were mesmerized; Steve was excited about all the western decor; and the homemade ice cream was definitely worth stopping for.

* Being in a tornado warning our first night there. The men had left to do the grocery shopping for the week. The women and children were settled in to the lodge when we got word that we were in a tornado warning. After debating for a few minutes, we decided that it was necessary to wake sleeping children and babies (14 of them, ages 3 months - 7 yrs old) and get everyone down to the theater room. We huddled down there together for about half hour before the warning expired and we were left to put children back to bed for the night...again. It was about 10 PM. The guys returned around 11 PM from their eventful trip to the store through hail storms and tornado warnings. What a way to start the trip!

* Finding out the next day that our satellite dish on the cabin roof had been struck by lightning the night before. We were lucky we didn't lose power and that nothing caught on fire!

* Bear Country USA: My kids are still telling everyone about their visit to see the bears. It made a lasting impression.

* Mt. Rushmore: Or as Ellie kept saying, "Rount Mushmore where the prophets are!" We finally convinced her these are different presidents than presidents of the church...but now Hunter thinks they're prophets.

*Story Book Park: Imagine various scenes from fairy tales incorporated into a playground setting. We could have spent all day there! There was also a section of the park for ages 5 and younger - the kids were happy there for hours.
