Our New Arrival

We're so excited to announce:

Spencer Joseph Thompson
July 14 at 4:03 PM
8 lbs. 6.5 oz and 20 in.

There is nothing that compares to the experience of bringing a sweet soul into the world and into our family! Prior to his birth, the kids referred to baby boy as "Jack Jack" from The Incredibles; occasionally just Jack for short. No amount of us gently explaining that Jack might not be his name could convince the kids it was so :)

Ellie loved him from the second she laid eyes on him. She wants to hold him all the time.

Hunter was more interested in my belly and why it still looked like a baby was in there, but wasn't...He's since warmed up to Spencer and loves to kiss and touch him.

Dallas wasn't all that interested until he could get his hands on Spencer. Now he loves to pet him vigorously, poke his eye while saying "eye!" and honk his nose.

Spencer was a lucky baby boy to have several visitors just hours into his life. My parents happened to have arrived at the hospital and to our floor/room just as the doctor came in for me to deliver Spencer. They were ready and waiting nearby in the waiting room when Steve sent the text that Spencer was here!

And us with our new little guy, of course.

Soon after my parents arrived, the rest of our family stopped by to see the baby. Steve's sister Shauna and his niece Kaylee flew in from Arizona the day before Spencer was born. They spent the next few days taking care of our kids, cooking, cleaning, and keeping everything sane at our house in our absence. We couldn't have done it without them! They were amazing and our kids were in heaven!

Yay!!! I've just updated myself on your blog and I'm so happy to see your awesome family of 6!!! Spencer is so adorable and I really want to come and give him some cuddles! And awesome to see you out at the zoo and arboretum not even a month later! I hope that means you are recovering well and everything is going great! Love you friend! Can't wait to catch up in person!
